Who We Are!

Ricky’s is dedicated to our community. Not only do we grow and process our own pastured poultry, but also process our communities farm and family raised chickens. The team here at Ricky’s hopes to teach our followers the importance and benefits of raising their own food. Ricky’s was created to build a self supportive environment for the community through the processing of poultry, while providing outstanding customer service through both sales and class involvement. Ricky’s prides in our healthy, clean, and holistic approach to agriculture and food products. We were started out of a love for farming, and a passion to teach the world to grow, process, and preserve our own food. We hope to expand our business in the future offering more than just pastured poultry as a product for sale. We also hope to increase our classes to benefit those who love homesteading as much as we do! #RaiseHealthy #EatHealthy #LiveHealthy

Our Vision

Our vision is to empower communities to be self-sufficient through the preservation of their own food.

Rick and Cindy
Founders of Ricky’s

Growing up living and working on farms has been a way of life and I never knew anything different. I started working on dairy farms at ten years old. By the time I was 14, I was a herd manager doing all of the milking and I made $75.00 per week plus room and board. That was good money for 1973. That lasted until I put my thumb in a baler and had to move back home. Soon after that, I went back to work on dairy farms becuase I always had a draw to farming, but I never wanted to be a dairy farmer. After going into the military at 17 and getting married at 18, I stayed away from farming until raising pigs. this was short lived because the industry controlled everything; prices, feed, what you could and couldn’t do, so I sold the operation and walked away. By 2002, I had moved to the woods in Pennsylvania where, once again, I could have a farm. But this time for a different reason and it wasn’t commercial farming! I went back to what I grew up doing and loved -building a homestead. This is where I fine-tuned what I knew and found out there were many people who have the same desire to live a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. In 2016, I went through a divorce and lost it all. After moving back home to Sherman NY to be coloser to family, I met Cindy. IN 2020, we purchased a farm and within months, Ricky’s was born. Now, in less than five years, we are homesteading full time. Raising and butchering livestock is what I have known since I can remember. I believe that there are a lot of people out there who want the same life and if I can overcome all odds to achieve a simpler, happier, healthier lifestyle, then anyone can. It is our vision, mission, and desire, to help people get there.

Gwen
Marketing Specialist

Growing up, I have always been surrounded by agriculture. In fact I loved it so much that I went on to become the NY state FFA district 10 president, where I spread my love for Ag to studentes with my same passion. From there, one of my greatest accomplishments was placing first in the states for agriclutural sales. That was when I knew that I wanted to get into marketing and sales in the future. Now, I have completed my Associates Degree in marketing and plan to go on for my Bachelors. Ricky’s has given me such a great opportuntiy to learn more about marketing in an environment that I love, agriculture and homesteading!
